Internship Programs

Project Niyam

In July 2020, when the pandemic forced us to start online internship, the interns of July 2020 saw this as an opportunity to research on the new unlock guidelines, revised fines and penalties under Motor Vehicles Act, 2019, new rules to be followed by transport sector during lockdown. These young brains didn’t just stop by doing research and preparing a report on the same. With an urge to aid the government, they became a bridge between the Transport sector and the government authorities by individually calling the transport offices and making them aware about the new rules.

Casteism in Prison

In January 2021, the Interns tried to pinpoint problematic & discriminatory provisions in jail manuals of some states. They even filed an RTI for getting Jail manuals of some states which were not available online. A social media campaign was followed by the same so as to raise voice against this discrimination.

Manual Scavenging

The newspaper article in the Times of India titled “Why one sanitation worker continues to die every five days in Swachh India?” made the June 2021 interns take up the YFG project on Manual Scavenging. With the available database and the recent research on death records, compensation, machines, and tools, the interns prepared a detailed report and started a social media campaign to make the common man aware of this inhumane practice.
